How it is calculated
Volume in m³ = area in m² × depth in cm / 100. Mass in kg = volume × density in t/m³ × 1,000 × (1 + allowance/100). Round bags up.
Worked example
A 20 m² area at 5 cm depth contains 1 m³. At 1.5 t/m³, it needs 1,500 kg, or sixty 25 kg bags before any allowance.
Before you calculate
Measure the area and intended finished layer depth. Obtain an appropriate bulk density from the supplier; different aggregates have different densities. Use an allowance deliberately and avoid counting the same compaction adjustment twice.
Interpreting the result
The model treats the layer as uniform and does not design a path base or drainage system. Loose and compacted volumes may differ. Check delivery quantities, access, grading and installation depth before ordering material.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
