How it is calculated
Ingredient multiplier = (new diameter / original diameter)² × new filling depth / original filling depth.
Worked example
Changing from a 20 cm pan to a 24 cm pan at the same 5 cm filling depth gives a multiplier of 1.44. An original 200 g ingredient becomes 288 g.
Before you calculate
Measure internal diameters and the intended batter depth. A taller pan does not mean it should be filled to its rim. This model treats both filled portions as cylinders and assumes comparable batter density.
Interpreting the result
Multiply ingredient quantities by the factor, but assess leavening and practical batch sizes separately. Baking time and temperature do not scale linearly with volume. Check doneness rather than multiplying the original time.
