How it is calculated
Energy = appliance count × days × (operating watts × operating hours + standby watts × standby hours) / 1,000. Cost = energy × tariff.
Worked example
One 1,000 W appliance used two hours daily for thirty days consumes 60 kWh without standby use. At EUR 0.25/kWh, the variable cost is EUR 15.
Before you calculate
Use separate operating and standby durations that total no more than 24 hours per day. Rated power may not represent average power for a cycling appliance. Measured consumption or a suitable average can provide a better basis for estimates.
Interpreting the result
Fixed charges and taxes are not inferred. Thermostats, duty cycles and changing loads can make a constant-power estimate inaccurate. The result does not assess electrical safety, appliance performance or installation suitability.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
