How it is calculated

Emitters = plants × emitters per plant. Total flow = emitters × individual flow. Water used = total flow × hours.

Worked example

Twenty plants with two 2 L/h drippers each use 80 L/h. Running the zone for 1.5 hours uses an estimated 120 litres.

Before you calculate

Count the emitters operating together in one zone. Use their actual or rated flow under the relevant pressure. Convert minutes to hours before entering session length if the field is expressed in hours.

Interpreting the result

The estimate assumes constant, equal flow and does not design the irrigation system. Pressure differences, clogging and manufacturing variation can change delivery. It does not establish how much water a crop needs.

Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
