How it is calculated

Rows = floor(area width / row spacing). Plants per row = floor(area length / plant spacing). Total plants = rows × plants per row.

Worked example

A 4 m-wide, 3 m-long plot with rows 1 m apart and plants 0.5 m apart gives four rows of six plants, or 24 planting cells.

Before you calculate

Use one unit consistently for the plot and both spacings. The calculation counts complete rectangular spacing cells rather than positioning a plant at each boundary. Keep access paths, perimeter setbacks and unusable areas out of the entered dimensions.

Interpreting the result

This geometric count does not recommend agronomic spacing or model staggered patterns. Mature plant size, light, roots, irrigation and local growing conditions need separate consideration. A different edge-placement convention can produce a different count.

Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
