How it is calculated
Yield (%) = final mass / initial mass × 100. Final grams per serving = final mass / servings.
Worked example
A recipe weighing 1,000 g before cooking and 800 g afterwards has an 80% yield. Dividing the result into four servings gives 200 g per serving.
Before you calculate
Compare clearly defined stages of the same recipe and use consistent units. State whether drained liquid, added water or finishing ingredients belong in the initial and final measurements. The serving count describes the cooked output.
Interpreting the result
Yield may exceed 100% when a food absorbs water, so this is different from preparation-trim loss. Mass change is not a food-safety or nutrition assessment. Portion consistency depends on how the finished recipe is divided.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
