How it is calculated
Salt mass = water mass × percentage / (100 − percentage). Total mass = water + salt. The percentage must be below 100 %.
Worked example
1,000 g of water at 5 % of total mixture needs about 52.63 g of salt. Adding 50 g instead produces about 4.76 %.
Before you calculate
Weigh the water in grams. This calculation assumes initially unsalted water and pure salt; it does not convert grams to millilitres.
Interpreting the result
The result defines mass concentration only. It does not establish a preservation recipe, safe storage period, solubility or suitability for a particular food.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
