How it is calculated

Pieces per row = floor((roll width + gap) / (piece width + gap)). Rows = ceiling(quantity / pieces per row). Length = rows × piece height + gaps between rows.

Worked example

A 60 cm usable roll fits three 20 × 10 cm pieces per row without gaps. Twelve pieces need four rows, using 40 cm of roll length.

Before you calculate

Use the usable width of the roll and the full rectangular bounding box of each design. The same gap applies between neighbouring pieces and rows; no gap is added outside the layout. Keep the entered orientation if the vinyl has a directional pattern.

Interpreting the result

The tool does not rotate pieces or perform irregular nesting. Cutting-machine margins, registration marks and damaged edges need separate allowances. The output is a row estimate, not a production-ready cutting file.

Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
