How it is calculated
Panel dimensions = piece dimensions + two edge allowances. Panels per row = floor(roll width / panel width). Length = ceiling(total panels / panels per row) × panel height.
Worked example
One 40 × 40 cm piece without allowances on a 100 cm-wide roll uses one 40 cm row. A 110 cm-wide piece cannot fit that roll in the fixed orientation.
Before you calculate
Measure the bounding rectangle needed for each upholstered part, not just its visible surface. Enter the number of equal pieces per chair and the total chair count. Add a realistic edge allowance for the chosen construction method.
Interpreting the result
The layout assumes identical rectangles and a fixed direction. It does not model curved panels, foam thickness, grain matching or mixed pieces. Patterned upholstery and attachment methods can require extra material beyond this estimate.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
