How it is calculated
Each cushion uses two rectangular panels. Add two seam allowances to each dimension, count complete panels across the roll and round the number of rows up. Round row length to the pattern repeat when specified.
Worked example
Two 40 × 40 cm cushions with 1 cm seams need four 42 × 42 cm panels. A 100 cm usable roll fits two per row, so two rows require 0.84 m without a pattern repeat.
Before you calculate
Use finished cushion dimensions and an allowance for each side of each panel. The usable roll width should exclude unusable edges. Keep the fixed direction for fabric with a nap, grain or directional design. The rotation option compares all panels unrotated with all panels turned by 90°.
Interpreting the result
The diagram represents a uniform row layout, not globally optimal cutting. It does not mix panel orientations or guarantee pattern matching between cushions. Allow separately for shrinkage, closures, piping and construction details that need extra pieces.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
